The way we work matters.

As a part of the healthcare sector, Uncommon Bold is committed to promoting the health of our team, our community, and our planet through our studio’s actions.

Sustainability

Environmental health is public health. The growing climate crisis is an urgent concern for the healthcare community and an opportunity for us each to lead with our own choices for a healthier future. Uncommon Bold is committed to:

  • Limiting our business flights and driving as employee travel is the top contributor to carbon emissions. As a virtual agency from the start, we make every effort to use technology to keep us in constant contact with each other and our clients. We aim to each fly less than a maximum of twice a year for events and client meetings.

  • Utilizing secure programs for messaging, contracts, document sharing and more — virtually eliminating our regular use of paper and ink.

  • Sourcing sustainable, non-plastic materials in client swag and gifts whenever possible.

  • Working with vendors who are eco-friendly or sustainable, opting for vegetarian meals and catering for events we coordinate.

As individuals at home, our team encourages sustainable choices, including adding solar panels, composting, gray water gardening, switching to eco-friendly products such as glass or metal containers for toiletries and lunches, cloth napkins and towels for cleanup, and bamboo products in place of paper. Thank you to Kimberly Nicholas, Ph.D., and her book Under the Sky We Make: How to Be Human in a Warming World for guidance.

Community

We believe in bringing others up and along with us as we continue to grow. That’s why Uncommon Bold has a commitment to working with diverse partnerships from our clients, vendors, and organizations we support, and we are proud that more than 50% of our client companies are currently woman- or BIPOC-led.

Our work can be a force for inclusion. We commission projects from local artists and photographers to share with their communities, source speakers and contractors with diverse backgrounds, guide small businesses through the PPP loan process, mentor with organizations such as CSweetener, and donate our time and money to important causes. We also created our imprint Procedure Press to publish books focused on remaking and reimagining healthcare for the benefit of human experiences. We want to do our part to build a healthcare landscape that fairly represents all of us.

Supporting our community also means we prioritize our own team’s well-being, mental health, and professional development. With our crew working from across the U.S. and Canada, we continue to add wellness benefits, including team events, maintaining flexible work schedules that prioritize life, and professional development such as creating personal portfolio websites.
